Spectacular Flinders Ranges
The Flinders Ranges are a spectacular and awe inspiring rugged mountain range in South Australia’s far north, a part of Australia’s unique outback. Traversed by the Heysen Trail, a long distance walking trail stretching over 1200 kilometres, we have selected the most interesting sections for this outback walking experience. We walk through deep gorges of red quartzite, under towering bluffs and to hidden springs and rock pools. Our 7-day/6-night journey will take you to some of the most picturesque and awe inspiring locations along the Heysen Trail and Flinders Ranges. You will visit the crater-like formation of Wilpena Pound, an important feature in the Aboriginal mythology of the region, historic settlements and ruins. Sightings of red kangaroos, euros, emus, reptiles and flocks of colourful parrots are common. Our walks each day are classified as easy/moderate and will take you through some of the most picturesque landscapes in the Flinders Ranges with sweeping views of the mountain ranges and incredible landscape. We stay at an historic outback pastoral property and walk without packs and return to soft beds, hot showers and good food and wine each night.
