Spirit of the Outback
On Day 1, we board the Spirit of the Outback for your overnight journey from Brisbane to Longreach. This fascinating journey offers a unique insight into the history and culture of early Australia. Watch the ever changing scenery as the train moves from the coast into the heart of the Outback. Longreach & Winton Days 2 and 2 sees us exploring the town of Longreach and includes a visit to the Australian Stockman's Hall and the Qantas Founders Museum. In Winton, we spend day 4 exploring the town famous for the song Waltzing Matilda. Day 5 sees us heading out to Lark Quarry where the dinosaur stampede helped to inspire the movie Jurassic Park. The next stop is Opalton, home of the famous Queensland Boulder Opal. Mount Isa It's time to visit a couple of the famous watering holes of the Matilda Highway inlcluding the Blue Heeler Hotel in Kynuna. Probably one of Australia's most well known pubs is your next stop - the Walkabout Creek Hotel made famous by Crocodile Dundee. Day 7 brings us to the Riversleigh Fossil Centre and the Isa Experience Gallery. We don hard hats and step back in time for a visit to the Hard Times Mine. Why not head to the Irish Pub for a pint in the largest Irish Club outside of Ireland itself! Coopers Creek There is only one place in the world where two rivers join to make a creek and today we marvel at Coopers Creek. Then its onto Stonehenge before we arrive in Longreach where we spend the evening relaxing over dinner on a sunset cruise. Day 13 allows plenty of opportunity to relax and reminisce in the Stockman's Bar as we head back to Brisbane on the overnight Spirit of the Outback.
