Saddle Up
After saddling up, we depart from our High Country family farming property. Enjoy the spectacular 360 degree views and spot the perilously steep hill where the famous jump scene from the 'Man from Snowy River' was filmed. Keep your eyes peeled for native wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies and if we're lucky wedge tail eagles.
We admire the views from Kate Cameron's peak over a gourmet hamper and descend along bridle tracks through tranquil valleys and points of rich historical interest.
Our overnight accommodation is the renowned Riverhouse at Howqua Dale - a magnificent country house hotel situated on the banks of the Howqua River. All of the 6 spacious ensuite guest rooms enjoy beautiful views over the garden or countryside.
Tonight's dinner is a riverside BBQ dinner in one of Victoria’s prettiest valleys.
Spectacular scenery
A hearty Howqua Dale country breakfast kick starts our second day of riding. We set off along the mountain cattlemen's tracks through creeks and gullies to Dungeon Hut for lunch and stories of high country legends.
There’s more spectacular scenery to come this afternoon before we arrive back at the stables at around 3pm for some traditional, warm Australian hospitality in the farmhouse.
