A 15 minute walk, city loop bus service or short taxi ride will bring you to the Ferry Terminal, giving you access to the daily reef trips, and magnetic island. TOWNSVILLE ATTRACTIONS: The Strand A wonderful stretch of sand and inviting tropical water await you at your doorstep. The strand stretches about 3 km, and is adorned with park and grassland. Magnetic Island A short ferry trip from Townsville takes you to this beautiful granite island with its fantastic scenery and beautiful beaches. Why not hire a moke, and drive around the island for a day? There is a lot to explore on the mostly national park island. Have a swim in Picnic Bay, Arcadia Bay or Horseshoe Bay. The islands vast secrets await you. Castle Hill Nature Walk If you are feeling energetic on your holiday, Castle Hill and its scenic views await you. In summer, beat the heat and go early in the morning, or late in the afternoon. Nothing beats joining the locals and watching a sunrise or sunset from the top of Castle Hill. A walking track can take you directly to the top of Castle Hill, or you can walk along the gradual road at your own pace. The City Shopping, fun and excitement await in Townsville's City Heart. By day, visit the numerous specialty stores and get that special something for the people you love back home. By night, the City Heart comes alive on Flinders Street East as the night clubs open their doors. Take a scenic stroll down to the breakwater and visit the casino.
