Description: The Port Douglas Sands Resort is a three & a half star, 53 unit complex, consisting of spacious, one, two and three bedroom apartments. Each one, two and three bedroom apartments are set in beautiful tropical gardens. All apartments are fully self-contained with full kitchen and laundry facilities provided with large balconies overlooking the lagoon pool & spa area. All rooms have ceiling fans and are fully air-conditioned. The Port Douglas Sands Resort is located opposite the Sheraton Mirage Resort on Port Douglas Road and is a short 350 metres walk to the beautiful Four Mile beach. The main village area of Port Douglas is a short 1.5 kilometres or a 15-20 minute walk away. The complex has security parking and features a striking pool, spa and barbeque gazebo area with surrounding beautiful tropical gardens. For your convenience, a tour desk is located on the premises, which enables you to book your tours (FREE OF CHARGE) on any of the many day tours to the Reef, Rainforest or any other destination. This can be safely left until your arrival - if you require any information about any specific tour please do not hesitate to ask upon booking. There are several restaurants and a small shopping centre, golf course and a country club/gymnasium within five minutes walking distance from the hotel. A local shuttle bus stop is only 50 metres away. This local bus service completes a circuit of Port Douglas every quarter of an hour (for a small fee), commencing at 7.30am each morning and stopping at 12am the following morning. Alternatively, it will take approximately 20 minutes to walk the 1.5 kilometre distance along Port Douglas road to the main shopping and restaurant areas. If you wish to eat in, there are take away menus in an information book in the room, as well as some other local information. Sun Palm Express bus service departs regularly from Cairns airport to Port Douglas, at a cost of approximately $60 per person return with the duration of a one-way trip taking approximately 1.5hours.
