Mt Ophir Estate is an historic viticulture property (with Heritage classification) cattle sheep and wine producing property located in North - Eastern Victoria close to the major wine growing district of Rutherglen historic gold mining township of Beechworth and ideally located close to the Hume Highway the major highway between Melbourne and Sydney. An organic / permaculture farm we have emus elk sheep cows chickens and geese. From the sweeping verandahs colourful native birds can be watched and the sunsets and night sky are majestic from our hilltop overlooking the Murray River basin. The aromas of freshly baked bread and delicious farm fresh food from our country kitchen will entice you to eat heartily before retiring for a tranquil nights sleep.
There is a variety of accommodation available for self-drive independent (without transport) visitors and small groups. Travel to Albury by train from Sydney or Melbourne regional airlines and country bus services. For the discerning couples The Tower provides unique deluxe accommodation accessed via a spiral staircase leading to the upper (third) level) offering magnificent views of the countryside.
