Description: Situated in the downtown area, the seven-storey Hilton Cairns is a modern waterfront hotel set overlooking the Coral Sea at the Trinity Inlet. The 263 guestrooms feature contemporary decor with tropical influences, and extend to balconies with sea or mountain views. Guests can stroll in the hotel's tropical gardens, which feature a 50-metre outdoor heated pool complete with spa tub, sun loungers and complimentary towels. The informal restaurant offers views of the mountains and serves healthy breakfasts, seafood buffets and a constantly changing regional table d'hote menu, accompanied by a selection of Australian wines. Motorists will find 128 parking spaces located under the hotel (surcharge). Five kilometres from the hotel, guests can board the Kuranda Scenic Railway, which travels through 34 kilometres of lush rainforest, passing deep gorges and thundering waterfalls along the way. Adventurous guests can don scuba gear and explore the Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural wonders of the world, 20 kilometres from the hotel. Cairns International Airport is 12 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time of 10 minutes. 20th Anniversary Promotion: Book a stay for travel through December 15, 2007, and receive a voucher for a chance to win one of 20 half-carat diamonds. Upon arrival, guests will be presented with a voucher and invitation to visit Hardy Brothers Jewelers. Once at the jewelers, guests will be presented with a tray of stones, including half-carat diamonds and cubic zirconias. Once a stone has been selected, it will be examined by the store's gemologist.
