Description: Situated on Australia`s beautiful Great Barrier Reef just 45 minutes off shore from Cairns, Green Island is a small coral cay of 15 hectares surrounded by a coral reef, and one of Australia`s premier environmental heritage sites. Green Island Resort has been acclaimed for its sensitive balance between the needs of visitors and the protection of a unique environment. It is the most exclusive and ecologically harmonious resort on the reef. Green Island is a National Park and as such the resort is unique. The trip to Green Island is on board one of Great Adventures high speed catamarans, a 50 minute trip from Cairns, transferring house guests four times a day, both from Cairns and Green Island. Transfers are booked along with your accommodation reservation. The superbly appointed luxury guest rooms and suites are light and breezy, with a tropical ambience that is matched perfectly with the magical views of the rainforest. Located on the southern side of the island, completely removed from the Day Guest facilities, the 10 Reef Suites and 36 Island Suites provide accommodation for 90 people and are of low set style of construction carefully positioned amongst the lush vegetation of the island. Covered walkways connect the guest rooms to the reception area and private guest facilities including an elegant restaurant and bar, and a lounge area overlooking the idyllic private guest pool. Green Island Resort`s signature restaurant is Emerald Restaurant - enjoy relaxing surroundings, the finest cuisine and first class service. Featuring alfresco terrace dining, Emeralds is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or for something more relaxed the Canopy Grill is perfect for enjoying your favourite burger or the freshest seafood. Be tempted by the Reflections Pool Bar for a specialty cocktails. Situated right next to the main pool deck, the friendly staff will serve your favourite drink, cocktail, refreshing beer or just a soft drink. Sit back at the bar or lay back on the pool deck. Activities include guided rainforest walks evening nature walks and stargazing, fish feeding. Try the glass bottom boat tour entry to Underwater Observatory - the oldest one in the World. Other optional activities include Scuba diving including introductory or certified outer reef tours to the Great Barrier Reef parasailing helicopter and seaplane scenic flights.
