FLIGHT PRICE INDEX

The Definitive International Flight Guide To Australia

September 2007

The Flight Price Index, from www.australiatravelmarket.com, monitors scheduled airlines’ international flight fares to Australia in order to chart and predict booking trends:

BEST FARES

1. Travelbag has the cheapest fare bookable online to Australia for departures from London Heathrow of £627 flying on Cathay Pacific during May and June 2008.

2. Airline Network has the best fare bookable online to Australia for departures from Manchester of £638 flying on Qantas for departures in May and June 2008.

3. Airline Network has the best fare bookable online to Australia for departures from Glasgow of £636 flying on Qantas during May 2008.

WWW.AUSTRALIATRAVELMARKET.COM PREDICTS:

1. The first commercial flight of the new Airbus A380 takes place next month with Singapore Airlines operating the A380 maiden voyage between Singapore and Sydney on the 25th October. There has been a lot of interest in the A380 and Singapore Airlines have auctioned seats on ebay for charity on the inaugural flight - the winning bid for the first pair of tickets exceeded US$100,000! www.australiatravelmarket.com expects that there will be high passenger demand for flights on the new Airbus A380s once airlines take delivery of their aircraft and premium prices for these particular flights are likely to prevail for a while to come.

2. Pacific Blue have announced that they will start flying domestic routes within New Zealand in November starting with key routes between Auckland-Wellington, Auckland-Christchurch and Wellington-Christchurch. With fares starting at NZ$39 each way, www.australiatravelmarket.com predicts that Pacific Blue will be successful in stimulating the domestic market and getting more kiwis and tourists flying, similar to what their sister airline Virgin Blue have done so well in Australia.

TRENDS IN JULY

London Heathrow

1. Flights departing from London Heathrow have decreased in price by an average of -3.25% for the forthcoming months
2. The only price increase for future months is for departures in December 2007 with a 2.10% increase from £999 to £1020.
3. May and June 2008 have shown the largest price decreases of -7.07% with an average price of £730 which is down from last months average of £785 for the same departure period.

Manchester

4. Flights departing Manchester have slightly decreased in price by an average of -1.31% for future months
5. April 2008 has seen the largest decrease in price from £880 to £832 with an average decrease of –5.45%.
6. The largest increase in price is for departures in October 2007 with an average increase of 4.91% with average prices rising from £1019 to £1069.

Glasgow

7. Overall flights have marginally decreased in price from Glasgow to Sydney by -0.98% for all future months.
8. The largest average price increase from Glasgow is in October 2007 with an increase of 9.16% from £1048 to £1144.
9. The largest decrease are for departures in June 2008 with prices dropping from £869 to £792 with an average decrease percentage of -8.86%.

General

10. Overall there has been a general decrease in the price of flights from all airports over the next 11 months. April to June is traditionally regarded as low season for flights from the UK to Australia due to the Australian winter months and the competitive pricing reflects this.
11. Cathay Pacific in conjunction with Thomas Cook and Travelbag have the most competitive fares for flights operating to Sydney from Heathrow closely followed by Virgin Atlantic. Qantas in conjunction with Airline Network and Flight.co.uk are dominating the market with the cheapest fares departing from Manchester and Glasgow.
