FLIGHT PRICE INDEX The Definitive International Flight Guide To Australia May 2007 The Flight Price Index, from www.australiatravelmarket.com, monitors scheduled airlines’ international flight fares to Australia in order to chart and predict booking trends: BEST FARES 1. Lastminute.com have the best fares bookable online to Australia for departures from London Heathrow of £618 flying on Korean Airlines for October and November 2007 departures and January, February and March 2008 departures. 2. Thomas Cook have the best fare bookable online to Australia for departures from Manchester of £707 flying on Singapore Airlines for June 2007 departures. 3. Opodo have the best fare bookable online to Australia for departures from Glasgow of £729 flying on Qantas for May 2007 departures. WWW.AUSTRALIATRAVELMARKET.COM PREDICTS: Last month Australia Travel Market got it wrong! We predicted that the Qantas would get over the line, when in actual fact it fall dreadfully short resulting in the resignation of the Qantas Chairman who had assertively promoted the transaction. Where does that leave Qantas now? Australia Travel Market predicts that this is not the last we have heard on this subject. The debate surrounding the impact of travel on the environment continues to gain momentum. Recently the Sunday Times committed their entire travel supplement to the subject of Carbon Responsible travel – an unthinkable initiative just 12 months ago. This is a debate that will inevitably (and rightly) make a growing number of people think twice about travelling to Australia for their holiday. Australia Travel Market predicts that increasingly Airlines and Tourist Boards will need to acknowledge this debate and take a pro-active position or they will risk seeing an increasing number of people choosing to take a Caravan holiday in Cornwall as opposed to a Carbon guzzling flight to Australia… Finally, if you are planning on travelling to Australia for Christmas, then you must hurry up and book. Flight availability is already becoming very limited and prices are already largely in excess of £1,000. Australia Travel Market predicts that these prices will only but increase over the coming months. As such – hurry up and book now if you want to enjoy being on an Australian beach enjoying a BBQ come Christmas day. TRENDS IN MAY London Heathrow 1. Flights departing from London Heathrow have decreased marginally in price by an average of -1.82% for all future months. 2.
