Lamington National Park

A scenic 90 minute drive south of Brisbane and an hour inland from the Gold Coast is the World Heritage Listed Lamington National Park. Mountains clad with sub-tropical rainforest, pockets of 2000 year old Antarctic Beeches and magnificent waterfalls, all teaming with tropical birds and animals, this is a very special area as the wildlife is so accessible.

The two most popular sections of the National Park are the Green Mountains and Binna Burra, linked by the 15 mile Border Trail. There is a total of 100 miles of walking trails throughout the park, including a “senses trail” for the visually impaired to a tree-top canopy walk along a series of bridges.

Accommodation can be found at O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat, a Lamington National Park institution located at the top of a winding road in a meadow clearing overlooking the Green Mountains. It combines a nature lover’s paradise with great hospitality. No telephones or televisions will disturb you here so you will be free to relax to the sounds of the rainforest
