Capricorn Coast

The Tropic of Capricorn bisects Australia, and marks the divide between the temperate and tropical zones of the country. The main towns along the Capricorn Coast are Rockhampton, or “Rocky”, Australia’s beef capital and the administrative capital of central Queensland; Yeppoon, a relaxed seaside village and the main resort of the Capricorn Coast, and gateway to Great Keppel Island; Gladstone, gateway to Heron and Lady Musgrave Islands and one of Australia’s busiest ports; and finally Bundaberg, 10 miles inland and the heart of Queensland’s sugar-producing region and famous for the production of Bundaberg rum.
