Description: In 1899, The Perth Mint was founded after the discovery of plentiful gold deposits in Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie. It was one of the Australian branches of Britain's Royal Mint and produced gold sovereigns and half sovereigns for use in Australia and throughout the rest of the British Empire.

Today, The Perth Mint operates fascinating guided tours where you can learn about the gold-mining history of Australia and visit the world's greatest collection of gold bars which have been crafted into beautiful shapes and designs.

Other attractions at The Perth Mint include exhibitions, demonstrations, historic coin collections, a shop selling exclusive gifts and jewellery and a traditional Tea Garden.
