Description: Travel west along the Calder Highway via Diggers Rest to Mount Macedon - famous for its grand mansions, wineries and gardens. The National Trust classified about a square kilometre because it contained possibly the most important collection of houses and gardens in Australia from the 1890's to 1920's. Drive to Hanging Rock where you may discover the mystery surrounding the fabled disappearance of Miranda some 100 years ago! Time to explore and to visit the 'Discovery Centre' where the history, mystery and geology of the Rock come to life. From Hanging Rock we drive to Woodend and then through magnificent bushland and lush farmland to Daylesford and the magnificent Convent Gallery where you are able to browse amongst works by some of the finest artists, sculptors, jewellery makers, silversmiths, glass blowers and ceramists. Printmakers, Koori artists, mural painters, textile artists and potters add to the colour and texture of this vibrant artistic region. From the Convent Gallery we take a short drive to 'The Boathouse Café' on the edge of Lake Daylesford where we enjoy a light lunch. and much more..............
