Floriade

Floriade
Location: Canberra
Description: Floriade is Canberra’s annual celebration of spring and the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere, with more than a million bulbs and annuals blooming during the month-long festival.

Running for one exciting month from mid September to mid October, Floriade attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. This vibrant festival presents an amazing and ever changing visual display that makes a single visit never enough.

Floriade is the ultimate family event, with live music, a range of great entertainment for adults and kids alike, food and wine options, and of course dozens of horticultural talks, demonstrations and DIY sessions.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there. Every year, Floriade spills beyond the gates of Commonwealth Park for the Floriade Trail, which offers the very best of Canberra’s attractions, all with a Floriade-themed twist!

2007 saw Floriade come alive in the theme: Aussie Icons, Myths & Legends, and saw spectacular garden beds from wobble-board master Rolf Harris, to Dame Edna’s flamboyant glasses, the iconic MCG and the true blue backyard dunny and hills hoist.

Floriade 2008 will see a different theme represented in spectacular flora - don’t miss the latest as information is released.
