Old Government Cottage Bathurst

Description: Old Government Cottage Bathurst is part of the original building which housed the commandant of the early township. Governor Lachlan Macquarie stayed at the cottage on his farewell visit to Bathurst in 1821. It contains a collection of colonial furniture and historical artefacts.No. 1 George Street was built in 1860 for John Ford who was a local banker and coach proprietor. It was used by the historical society as its museum until 1980.
