Description: Situated on the Flinders Peninsular approximately 22 kilometres from Albany in Western Australia Whale World is home to over 20 exhibits.Whale World has won many awards over 25 years, including recognition from the Heritage Council and Museums Australia in 2005 and a successful finalist again this year in the Western Australian Tourism Awards - Significant Tourist Attraction Category.The site consists of 14 sheds, six dwellings and five whale oil storage tanks, three of which have been converted into multi media theatres.Currently showing is Tank One, Australian Whaling, which gives an insight into the nation`s first commercial industry. While Tank Two, Shark, relays the relationship between shark and whaler. Tank Three hosts the world`s first 3D animated film on whales `Giants Exist`.The Cheynes IV was one of the last whale chasers to operate and has been brought onto the hardstand, now forming an important part of our interpretation of the site and is a major tourist attraction.Professionally guided tours run hourly from 1000 to 1600, providing lots of informative, fun facts about whales and whaling.
